Ramona "Kitty" Wilkins Springer

Everybody called her Nunnie. Her real name was Ramona — but "Nunnie" was the name the little ones gave her, and it stuck the way love sticks.

Born in the summer of 1943, she grew up to be the kind of woman a whole family orbits around. A teacher by trade, a mother by calling, and a prayer warrior by faith. Her classroom was wherever she stood — at the chalkboard, at the kitchen counter, at the front pew.

She loved her Lord, her husband, her children, and her grandchildren fiercely. She loved a good hymn, a red pair of shoes, and a quiet evening in the garden. She knew every song of the church by heart, and she taught us most of them.

She lived her faith out loud. She prayed for us before we knew we needed praying for. She showed us what it looks like to love without keeping score. She never sat at the head of the table because she was too busy serving from it.

She has finished her race. She has kept the faith.
